Del Bitter

Del Bitter served as junior high principal in Will County for 24 years at Alex M. Martino Junior High and Oster-Oakview Junior High in New Lenox and Reed-Custer Middle School in Braidwood until his retirement in June, 2009.  

During his 21 years in New Lenox, he promoted the transition from junior high to middle school philosophy.  Under Del’s leadership Martino Junior High was awarded the U.S. Department of Education Blue Ribbon Award in 1999-2000 as an exemplary school. 

Del has presented as a member of Blue Ribbon panels, teaches graduate classes for the University of St. Francis, and guest lectures for student teachers at Eastern Illinois University.  He serves at the PDA as a RESPRO coach, new principal mentor, new teacher mentoring consultant, and has interests in the change process for schools and leadership strategies for principals.
