Induction for the 21st Century Educator (ICE 21)
Professional Development Alliance staff (ICE 21 certified trainers) will work collaboratively with school districts in Will, Grundy, and Kendall counties to provide mentoring support for new teachers and training for mentor teachers.
This new teacher induction & mentoring program will incorporate elements of The Induction for the 21st Century Educator, a funded program in Illinois for the past ten years, with emphasis on the Illinois Professional Teaching Standards.
In July-August, PDA personnel offer training sessions for mentors. This training includes mentoring strategies and the coaching cycle for mentors. Follow-up training and question-answer sessions with mentors can be scheduled throughout the school year.
New teacher training sessions can be scheduled (school day workshops, after school, or Saturdays) to address the following topics:
Additional training sessions can be developed to satisfy particular district needs or topics.
