The Master of Arts in Teaching will provide
challenging content designed to meet the demands of the changing
teaching professional. It will expand the opportunity for improvement
and enhancement of classroom teaching competencies. The MAT program
will improve the process of teaching by researching and developing
practices which reflect current trends. Teachers will examine
to the best practices of instructional measurement and assessment.
The following 3 credit hour courses are Aurora's required core
courses for the Master of Arts in Teaching Cohort Program:
Contemporary Issues in Education
Assessment in the Schools
The Individual Cognition and Learning
The Learning Environment
Technology in the School of the Future
Scholarship Applied to Teaching
Six additional three credit hour courses will be offered as electives
to complete the program.
Courses will be held during 4 terms. The winter, spring, and
fall terms are 10 weeks each with approximately 2-week intervals
between terms. The summer term consists of 2 courses, one week
each from 8:00 am - 4:00 pm. The summer courses will be held on
site at Aurora University. The remaining courses will be held
at the Professional Development Alliance.
