The Professional Development Alliance schedules and presents induction and mentoring workshops, in-services, and seminars. We will disseminate ISBE and other materials pertaining to induction and mentoring to school districts.

Induction and Mentoring trainings, that are offered at the Professional Development Alliance and on individual school sites, are designed to train teachers and administrators to develop, support, and evaluate Induction and Mentoring Programs. At the present time, nearly 50% of beginning teachers leave the profession within the first seven years of their careers and approximately 9% of new teachers never complete their first year!

There are two strands of the Induction for the 21st Century Educator program: The Administrator/Teacher Leader strand is composed of three workshops, Awareness, Application, and Analysis of Induction and Mentoring. The Mentor Teacher strand focuses on the keys to quality mentoring. Additional workshops are provided to enhance the skills of mentors. For more information, contact Joyce Nelson.
