The new IL Social Studies Standards embrace an 'inquiry arc' that requires students to evaluate sources and use evidence to address both essential and supporting questions. Collaborate with colleagues as you discover and engage with resources to facilitate student engagement in questioning. Experience strategies such as Socratic Seminar and Structured Academic Controversy to facilitate student development of the knowledge, skills, & dispositions for success in college, career and civic life. Explicit connections will be made to the IL Social Science Standards, the Common Core State Standards and the Danielson Framework for Effective Teaching.
