Charitable Activities

PicCharitable01.pngCommitment to Serving the Community

The Professional Development Alliance is dedicated to serving the community in which we operate, and we encourage our staff to pursue opportunities to contribute to the welfare of Will, Grundy, and Kendall counties.  The Professional Development Alliance encourages its full-time staff to donate a small portion of their time in service of approved qualifying charities and service organizations that serve our community.

Computers 2 Kids in Need - Vista Learning, NFP

Several staff members at the Professional Development Alliance contribute their talents to Vista Learning's Computers 2 Kids in Need program.  This program provides refurbished and upgraded computers to children in need who have been recommended by their principal or teacher as promising students who would benefit academically from access to a computer at home.  Our staff is involved in most aspects of this program, including serving on the Vista Learning board, communicating with schools to receive recommendations, marketing efforts, refurbishing computers, assisting high schools whose students volunteer to refurbish computers, and hosting events.  In order to promote service learning, we also coordinate several area high schools whose students assist in refurbishing computers.  To learn more about Computers 2 Kids in Need or to donate a computer, visit www.vistalearning.org or call (815) 725-5510.

Will/Grundy Transition Planning Committee

The Will/Grundy Transition Planning Committee (WGTPC) is a non-profit consortium of high school districts, unit school districts, and service agencies dedicated to improving the quality of life of students with developmental disabilities.  The WGTPC works to coordinate and disseminate information to those with developmental disabilities, their families, their teachers, and their supporters.  The most notable work of this committee is its annual Transition Conference, which offers the developmentally disabled, their teachers, and their families to come together to learn more about related legal issues, programs, services, and opportunities.  For more information about the WGTPC, visit their website.
