Amy Sandgren is a Science Education Consultant based in Chicago, Illinois who provides professional learning opportunities to K-12 teachers and administrators focusing on three-dimensional teaching, learning, and assessment aligned to the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS).
She taught high school biology at Rock Island High School (Rock Island, IL) and was head of the science department before transitioning to the Rock Island County Regional Office of Education where she led numerous Math & Science Partnership professional development institutes for teachers for over thirteen years.
Amy served on the Illinois Lead Team for the Building Capacity for State Science Education Committee which focused on the planning and implementing of the NGSS starting back in 2012. She is a Science Service Provider for the Illinois Foundational Services professional learning program and an EQuIP Rubric Peer Review Panel Member, and an intern to become an NGSS PD Facilitator with the National Science Teachers Association (NSTA).
Amy has a BA in Biology and Secondary Education and a Masters in Educational Administration.
