Sheryl Leturgey

Sheryl Leturgey is an experienced educator and facilitator that is passionate about student
centered learning. Having been in the classroom as a 6-8th grade ELA teacher and 1st grade
teacher, and then supporting students, teachers, and admin as a Reading Specialist,
Instructional Coach, and Lead Literacy Teacher for Prek-8, she has a wide range of experience.
Sheryl is well versed and experienced in creating systems and instructional models that support
students in learning how to read and write at high levels, while also considering developmentally
appropriate practices. Sheryl is a lifelong learner and continues to grow her knowledge as a
doctoral student at Aurora University, while simultaneously providing teachers and
administrators support with curriculum design and implementation. Sheryl has experience in the
creation and implementation of Project Based Biliteracy Units of Study, incorporating Science,
Social Studies, and ELA. She has been a part of as well as lead teams through the process of
vertical and horizontal standards alignment and the identification of essential standards.
Through the Covid Pandemic, she supported teachers and administrators in shifting instruction
to a personalized learning model through the creation of learning progressions. She also directly
supported instructional coaches in transitioning from a teacher centered coaching model to a
student centered coaching model.
