Join your fellow special educators for this Boot Camp. Learn from the keynote speaker and select from 6 different trainings. A networking lunch will also be provided.

Topics to pick from:

How to write a SMARTIE IEP goal - In this professional development, you will learn how to write IEP goals that are Specific, Measurable, Action-Oriented, Result-Oriented, Timed and Tracked, Inclusive and Equitable. You will learn how to write IEP goals that will reflect students' needs and drive instruction for student success. 

Overview of FBA and BIP - In this professional development, you will learn best practices for the process of a FBA and how it informs the creation of an effective BIP. You will learn how to write an effective BIP that will support the students in all educational environments. 

Different Perspective of Behavior - In this professional development, you will increase your understanding of behavior and why students may misbehave or even go into crisis. You will learn different strategies to manage challenging behaviors in the school environment.

ELA Intervention: This professional development includes Universal Design for Learning for ELA and tiered interventions in reading as well activities related to the five pillars of reading. Participants will complete real-life scenario activities utilizing UDL strategies. The elements of writing will also be reviewed along with many strategies of teaching writing to all grade levels.

Math Intervention: Math can be a difficult subject for students. Participants will learn about evidence-based practices to help struggling math learners build their conceptual understanding and gain an understanding of how to use the MTSS/RTI frameworks to address student learning gaps in math through assessments. Educators will learn how to improve math instruction at the Tier 1 level along with strategies to provide evidence-based interventions at Tier 2 and 3. Ready-to-use resources will be provided.

Trauma-Informed Practice: In this professional development, educators will gain a better understanding of what childhood trauma looks like, potential causes, how it can portray itself in the classroom, and strategies to use when working with students who have experienced trauma. Educator self-care importance and implementation ideas will be discussed.
