Responsive Circles: A Process That Leads To Prevention: As a teacher or administrator, are you looking for ways to effectively manage behavior while simultaneously building relationships and positively impacting school or classroom culture and climate? Responsive Circles, a strategy within Restorative Practices, not only help mitigate behavior issues and interruptions, they change the way staff and students see conflict. In Responsive Circles, the school community begins seeing conflict as an opportunity to connect and build relationships.

This is an Entry Level Training for those who are new to their jobs, need an introduction to McKinney-Vento Law, or do not have any experience working with families experiencing homelessness. It is designed to help McKinney-Vento Liaisons, Social Workers, Counselors, Teachers, Administrators, Enrollment Staff, and staff who provide human services from local community agencies in Will County to learn effective ways to recognize and respond to students who are experiencing homelessness. This training will review Federal and State legislation and network with human service providers from local community agencies.

This is an excellent opportunity to earn Continuing Education Credit in an "Educator Friendly" format right here in Joliet.

Network opportunity for school personnel that handle student discipline, social work, truancy, etc... The network provides the opportunity to share best practices, hear from local agencies that assist at-risk youth, and engage with experts in the area of social emotional learning.

Youth in Care and McKinney-Vento Liaisons are invited to attend a round table hosted by leadership from ISBE and DCFS. This is a great opportunity to ask questions, learn about how each program works, and share information with other school districts. Learn the requirements of the federal Every Student Succeeds Act and how to best support this vulnerable population of students.

Youth Mental Health First Aid teaches you how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illness and substance use disorders in youth. This training gives adults who work with youth the skills they need to reach out and provide initial support to children and adolescents (ages 6-18) who may be developing a mental
health or substance use problem and help connect them to the appropriate care.

Introduced in 2009, the Standard Response Protocol is a proven enhancement to school safety planning. Thousands of schools in the US and Canada have adopted the program.

Introduced in 2012, the Standard Reunification Method fills a critical void in school safety planning: How to reunite students with their parents after a crisis.

Also included in the training is a segment on Incident Command and how it relates to crisis management for educators.
