Balanced Assessment Foundational Services will provide instructional leaders and classroom teachers with information and tools as they work to implement the PARCC assessment and to implement assessment that informs instruction at the school and classroom level.
Balanced Assessment Framework (1 hour overview or a half day of training)
- Participants will review the assessments needed for a district or school to implement a balanced assessment system. A useful assessment inventory tool, along with the different types of assessments, will be shared.
State Assessments in a Balanced Assessment Framework (Half day of training)
- Participants will discuss state assessments and their impact on instruction. This training outlines the purposes of PARCC and DLM as Illinois’ state assessments and will provide PARCC 2016 administration updates and information on 2015 assessment results. Resources for keeping up-to-date on assessment information will be shared as well as instructional resources to assist teachers in implementing the standards assessed by PARCC and DLM.
Classroom Assessments in a Balanced Assessment Framework (Full Day of training)
- Participants will explore assessments in a school, including their foundations, uses and quality. This training utilizes ISBE’s Guiding Principles for Classroom Assessment to help participants gain a deeper understanding of how to evaluate and develop quality classroom assessments that guide their instruction.
Networking for Balanced Assessment:
Participants will engage in discussion around shared experiences and expertise related to Balanced Assessment. Each gathering is initiated for a deeper look into a topic included in the currently approved materials.
